Framing and erection are done by our own in-house crews, never brokered out. The company has worked on eight-figure projects and runs seven-figure ones as general contractor.
What we do
On a storage job the shell and the units inside it are usually two different subcontracts. We handle both.
ALoad-bearing and non-load-bearing steel stud framing for storage units, retail interiors and multi-story buildings, framed by our own crews. Also called steel stud or light gauge framing, depending on who is asking.
BClear-span pre-engineered metal buildings, engineered off site and assembled on-site. Storage facilities, warehouses, hangars and shops. We erect the shell and frame the storage units inside it as one scope.
Storage is what we build most
On most storage jobs the developer carries two subcontracts and the gap between them.
We do both ends. Stalcup erects the PEMB shell and frames the units inside it, which takes a handoff out of the schedule.

Same company, same people answering the phone. The size of the job decides whether we come in as general contractor or as a subcontractor.
A U-Haul warehouse and storage facility, run as general contractor rather than as a framing sub. The scope ran well past the steel: water mitigation, a full pond and complete site work on a wet Whatcom County site.
A five-story U-Haul storage facility. Heavy bolt-together red iron carried floors one and two, and load-bearing cold-formed steel carried three, four and five, at less cost than running red iron the whole way up.
Nineteen drive-up ten-by-ten storage units. Individual structures set on asphalt rather than a connected row, which is a different erection sequence and a different foundation problem from a single continuous building.
Climate-controlled boat storage in a pre-engineered metal building, for a local watersports business that wanted its customers' boats in conditioned space. Taller bays, wider doors, and a sealed envelope rather than a weather shell.

What we build
Storage
Single-level rows and taller RV or boat bays. The volume format in self-storage, and the building our crews have put up more often than any other type.

Conditioned space inside a sealed steel envelope. The envelope stops being weather protection and becomes part of the mechanical system holding a temperature.

Load-bearing cold-formed steel above a heavier base frame, for infill sites where the cost of land means the only direction a facility can grow is upward.

Clear-span shells built for racking, dock doors and truck fleet. Ferndale was a warehouse and a storage facility on one site, delivered as a single job.

Industrial floor space, open or conditioned, usually for an owner hiring direct rather than through a general contractor. Capability rather than a claim.

A hangar is a door-width problem before it is anything else, and clear-span steel is the one system that answers it without interior columns in the way.

Equipment, inputs and crop storage need clear span and a roof engineered for the snow load at the site. Pre-engineered steel arrives with that already in it.

The three specialized types use the same two systems and the same crews as everything above. We have not delivered a project in each of them, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

When you call, you reach the office, and the estimate comes from the person who will actually run the job. No email chain, and no reply five business days later.
That matters more than it used to. The industry is consolidating, and a lot of the companies a general contractor used to know by name now route everything through a call center. We are the other thing. One conversation, with the person who will actually run your job.
Our bids are competitive and we are straight about what is in them. What we are is a crew that shows up, stays until the work is done, and takes the job seriously because our name is on it. Fifteen years of commercial work, most of it from general contractors who keep bringing us back.
How we work
Framing and erection are always ours. Concrete and groundwork get subbed out, and we are specific about which is which before the bid rather than after it.
Crews mobilize out of Central Oregon and stay on site until the work is finished, rather than losing an hour at each end of the day driving to and from it.
We work in Procore and Outbuild on the general contractor's own account. Scheduling and coordination stay in the system the GC already runs, and our crews are fluent in both.
Where we work
Licensed and building in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Alaska and Arizona. Our crews travel to all eight and stay on site through the work, which is why a project in Alaska runs the same way as one an hour from the shop.
